Deadly Accident on Long Island Expressway Results in the Deaths of Two Young New Yorkers

An off-duty New York City Police officer struck a disabled BMW which was stopped on the side of the Long Island Expressway.  Two of the four occupants standing outside the vehicle were killed when they were struck by the large SUV - a 2016 GMC Yukon.  The impact sent the victims flying over the dividers and into the eastbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway.  According to a report by the New York Daily News, the driver of the BMW, a 20-year old Queens man was pronounced dead at the scene.  The passenger who was killed was and 18 year old woman from upstate New York.  She was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.  The remaining passengers were brought to a local hospital with minor injuries.  Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this terrible tragedy.
